The Work in Haiti
After the earthquake that hit Port-au-Prince, Haiti in 2010, the elders at Estes had the oversight of funds that were used to meet immediate needs. The generous donations were managed by the Earthquake Relief Committee, and were used for emergency response teams, food, medicine, equipment, houses, home repairs, church buildings, schools, education, and evangelism.
The work in Haiti continues, but with a more modest budget that depends on regular contributions from individuals and congregations, some of whom make regular monthly gifts, and others who give more occasionally. If you have been looking for a good work to support, there are needs to which you could donate and store up treasures in heaven.
There are children who were sponsored by a portion of the emergency fund so that they could eat in the Santo Nutrition Center and go to school under our education program. Now that the earthquake funds are gone, in order to continue to pay for food and school for these children, sponsors are needed. The cost to feed a child is $40/month and the education costs are an additional $40/month (tuition, books, and uniform).
“Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.” -Hebrews 13:16
