Recovery through Christ
The 6.2 Ministry has its basis in Galatians 6:2 which says, “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” Implied in the verse are principles of fellowship, accountability, and purpose.
Romans 3:23 provides direction for Christians. Sin is the problem and it must be avoided. Paul, in Galatians 6:2 describes sin as a burden. This is obvious when Galatians 6:1 is considered for a context. The one commonality mankind has is sin – all have sinned. Christians and non-Christians can meet on the common ground that all of have sinned. Paul encourages Christians to deal with sin or avoid sin by looking to each other. Christians come together with a common purpose to avoid sin.
Recovery through Christ is a means by which Christians can hold each other accountable in order to avoid sin. Christians can come together and discuss in detail and confidence their struggles. Christians can find others with similar struggles and develop methods to overcome their struggles. RTC is a place of renewal, commitment, and motivation. The principle of accountability is accomplished through RTC.
RTC provides an avenue for Christians to meet on a different common ground. The commonality of sin, while true, is depressing in light of the consequences of sin – “…the wages of sin is death…” (Romans 6:23). Paul encourages Christians to meet on a different plain – forgiveness – “…the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23). The biblical concepts of repentance and confession are implied in Galatians 6:2. The purpose of the 6.2 Ministry and, in particular, RTC is to empower people with purpose through fellowship and accountability.
Two RTC groups are forming. A ladies’ group meets on Tuesdays at 7:30 PM at the Estes church building. Beginning in October, an RTC group for men will resume for the same purpose. The groups gather together to have fellowship, develop an accountability network, and establish a greater sense of purpose in Christ. People are coming together for Recovery through Christ.
